Crazing

« Back to Glossary Index

Crazing is the network of spidery cracks that appear in the surface of the glaze on pottery and ceramic pieces. Light crazing on pottery may make it less useful but it doesn’t always detract from the value of the piece. While there is no cure for the actual crazing, the discoloration associated with pieces that were commonly used like tea cups & saucers can often be cleaned successfully using high strength hydrogen peroxide.
