We were recently working at an estate sale in a 1970s-built house which had the most “swagalicious” hanging lamps, all from the period, including glass, glass and wood and even an acrylic and filament string lamp. I love the idea of swag and pendant lights for their versatility, easy to place in corners of rooms to create stunning niche decor. The definition of a swag light is “An electric ceiling light connected to a wall socket by a cord (usually decorated with a chain) from the outlet up the wall and along the ceiling.” The definition of pendant lights is “a lone light fixture that hangs from the ceiling usually suspended by a cord, chain, or metal rod.” I have both in my picks; they gave me that vibe.
By the way, I just found out that 1970s decor and style is back in vogue, and I mean literally in Vogue magazine. (You can read all about it here.)

I look at this Dutch made lamp and see space, a new frontier written all over it. Wouldn’t this be great hanging in with other things in an intergalactic kid’s room? The color is delicious and the shape is fun and interstellar. The Etsy shop, VintageRetroVases is offering this pottery pendant lamp for $125.07.
Stilnovo-style Italian 50s Pendant Light
I would love this artful combination of glass metal and wood pendant here in my home. It sings modern design meets Asian meets Danish design. I would love the soft light that would diffuse through the shade and would very much like this hanging in a corner of the bedroom over my bedside cabinet.
