When you look back at year’s end, you wonder: where did the year go? We can’t answer that for you, but we can tell you which Vintage Unscripted posts from the past year are our favorite blog posts of 2025. They were not the posts with the most views. We love it when we write something that gets a lot of views, well, a lot of views for us, the little vintage blog that could. We like these particular posts for a lot of reasons. We like them because they were hatched because we had a question. We like them because they gave us a chance to do a deep dive on someone or something we only knew a little about. We like them because they put a spotlight on vintage sellers with cool stuff.
Being blog that’s a non-monetized passion project means we don’t spend a lot of time thinking about what topics and keywords will get the most views. We instead think about what our readers might find interesting, which usually happens to be things we find interesting too. When our posts rank well in online searches, it’s usually a happy accident and not a shrewdly refined editorial strategy. We go where our curiosity takes us and we love taking you along.
So these are our favorite blog posts from 2025, presented in no particular order.
The mystery of the Enigmatic Ambrotype sparked a lot of discussion. Is it a postmortem portrait? If so, which woman is no longer among the living? You’ll have to read it to find out more.
It would have been unthinkable to overlook the 50th anniversary of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. We occasionally dip into pop culture; Barbie and Hallmark Christmas movies were also covered.
One of our missions is to shine a light on other vintage sellers. We truly believe the rising tide floats all boats. One of the ways we do that is with collages of interesting things, based around an interesting theme. Think of our collages as vintage eye candy. I Am Woman and Diversity were two of our themes this year, you’ll find links to all the items in the posts themselves.
Profiles of people who made an impact on design or culture are always interesting. Bill Cunningham was an icon. Other icons profiled this year include sculptor Ron Lee and paper doll designer Tom Tierney.
All of us at Vintage Unscripted can write about things from the 60s right up to today with a certain authority because we were there. Posts that scratch the nostalgia itch are fun to write, hopefully readers also find them fun to read. We can acutely remember drenching ourselves in Love’s Baby Soft as well as some of the other trendy drug store perfumes in the 70s. We can also still smell the seaside scent of suntan lotion.
Nothing is more fun than an estate sale find the leads you straight into a nice juicy rabbit hole. The Story of Ginnette was that kind of post. A Baker’s Chocolate 1914 promotional booklet was another.
Sometimes a question that we need the answer to leads to a blog post. Like this big beautiful tray with a social security number etched into it. Why? How? And does it matter? (It does.)
Vintage Unscripted will be turning 10 years old in 2026. An actual entire decade and we are still finding new things to blog about. We have new posts for you every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. We loved taking you places in 2025. Where will we go together in 2026?
