Texas Ware Confetti Bowls

Texas Ware Confetti bowls remain a popular collectable item for a reason. They are versatile, fun, and endlessly useful. Confetti bowls were one of many lines of plastic items made by Plastics Manufacturing Company of Dallas TX, starting in 1946 through the 1990s. The company made everyday dinnerware along with companion items including cups, mugs, sugar and creamer sets, platters and mixing bowls.

The now highly collectible confetti items were an economical answer to recycling at the time. These colorful products, mostly mixing bowls, were produced using leftover bits and pieces. Therefore, no two are the same. The mixing bowls came in sets of nested sizes and colors. Complete sets are harder to find and command higher prices as well. More vibrant colors also tend to be priced higher. They can, however, still be found in the wild on occasion.

Many of us grew up with melamine dinnerware. Back then we didn’t have microwaves or dishwashers, so our melamine dishes easily withstood daily use. If you plan to use your Texas Ware or melamine items today, wash them by hand with mild dish soap and refrain from popping them in the microwave.

Because of the enduring popularity of these items, several companies have recreated the look. Rachel Ray sold a line of similar looking mixing bowls and many companies now sell reasonable facsimiles on Amazon and other sites.
