This week’s vintage picks are brought to you by Pam of Vintage Renude. I admit I have a soft spot for vintage tea towels. I own a lot of them. I’m able to justify my large collection by using them daily. Many years ago I switched from paper towels and napkins to reusable cloth dish towels and napkins. It allows me to feed my obsession with vintage linens as well as my need to do my part for the planet. While collecting and using vintage kitchen towels is far from the only way I seek to be eco-conscious, it’s a small step that allows me to enjoy my hobby while contributing less to the trash bin.

I love the bright colors: The bright pink pineapple and green background caught my attention right away. The repeated fruits along both edges add to the punch of color and the artwork brings back the mod look of the 1960s. This would come out for parties and special occasions.

Oh, my, the humor: The look on mom’s face and the ensuing mischief as Dad cooks while she watches. This one I may have to frame, or perhaps give to my daughter who would giggle at the dilemma of Dad watching the kids and cooking while she reads the paper.
Six Embroidered Cotton Towels
A wonderful starter set: The holidays will soon be here. Kitchen towels make great gifts. This group of towels would be a fun way to nudge a friend into being more eco-friendly. Perhaps wrap up a loaf of homemade quick bread and a batch of muffins. The hand embroidery makes these pretty enough to display in the kitchen too.
Vintage tea towels come in many forms, from simple plain cotton to highly decorated linen. They were originally made to dry delicate crystal and silver. Using cloth instead of paper is one small way to help to future of our planet. Besides, these are so much nicer to look at than paper.
