Whom would you invite over for to have tea for two with you? I’d love to do this with a friend. One grammie I know serves tea to her two little grandchildren on various sets of dishes she owns and inherited. She tells stories about her mother and grandmother and about other celebrations big and little in which china was used. Tea parties with her are always a favorite time for them.
As we often say on VintageUnscripted, use the good china, put out the pretty linens and enjoy every precious moment sharing time and friendship along with a cup of tea and perhaps a sweet.
Cardew Alice in Wonderland Tea Cups & Saucers
I have always loved the book Alice in Wonderland and have reread it many times. I don’t ever read it as an adult reader, but as my 10-year-old self who still resides in me. I had never heard about Paul Cardew until a friend showed me a teapot he designed and said he was a popular British ceramicist who is known for some outrageous teapot designs. This cup and saucer set would be delightful gift for a Tea for Two Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. I could wear my top hat and serve crazy looking cupcakes. Craftergeekstudio has this boxed set on Etsy for $70.
Hall Yellow Aladdin Shape Tea Pot
If I can, I’d like to serve tea in this wonderful sunny yellow teapot that surely came out of the Aladdin’s lamp story. It would hold just enough for two cups of tea and of course a refill. I would serve lemon tea bread and we could talk about the sunny skies in New England during the winter. This would boost our spirits. We would end our little tea party by rubbing the lamp and at least making a wish. Shhhh! Don’t say it! JoysVintageFinds would be happy to send this to you from her Etsy shop for $44.
Antique Eagle Tea Box
I love just about everything about this handsome antique tin! The red is so rich in color and really contrasts well with the gold and black lettering. It would have pride of place in a vintage kitchen or even an industrial loft. I could see it in a cottage on one of New Hampshire’s beautiful lakes. We are seeing the reappearance of eagles here in New England. This summer make some iced tea for two and sit out on the deck with a pair of binoculars and see how many birds you can identify. Hope you spot an eagle. This beauty and family heirloom tin is offered by lloydsttreasures on Etsy for $350.
Western Feed Company Tea Strainer
My VU sister Linda would smile at this advertising item. One would never think about chicken feed while straining their Tea for Two tea leaves! That is what makes this so great. What a great name for poultry feed, Sincerity Poultry feeds. While you are having your tea, you very well may be serving it with cake or cookies made with eggs and commiserating about the very timely problems of the cost and availability of eggs right now. Clucking about it won’t fix it, however…this too shall pass. Get this great aluminum strainer on Etsy for $25 from VintageEmporium17’s shop.
Hope you enjoyed a cup of tea and this post from snowy New England!
