Seller Spotlight: Meet Allie of Allie Et Cie

Welcome to our Seller Spotlight series. We are pleased to introduce you to Allie of Allie Et Cie, an Etsy vintage seller since 2010. Her shop is filled with beautiful items that have a sweet and feminine look. She sells everything from fine jewelry to incredible home goods and more. Here’s what she has to say:

Allie herself

Hi! My name is Allie and my business name is Allie et Cie. That is French for Allie and Company. Most people think it is a play on words and is meant to be Allie Etsy…nope. And, there is no company…I am the whole shebang.

Like most vintage sellers, I have always been drawn to the old and unusual. As a child, I was fascinated by the man next door who would put his hand into a jar of screws and bolts and pull out a pair of earrings for me. Now that I’m grown, I wonder if he had his wife’s permission to put a pair of her earrings in that jar. But it didn’t matter to a little girl. I was just fascinated that out of a jar of ugly bits of metal, something beautiful emerged. Perhaps this is where it all began. Beauty was found in unexpected places.
Allie et Cie offers vintage objects of all kinds. It is my hope that an item will spark a feeling that pulls a person in…a feeling that can’t be ignored. Something that speaks to their soul.
Jewelry has to be my favorite vintage treasure to own and sell. I find beauty in the most simple and imperfect piece. Jewelry holds stories of love and that love has become part of the piece…it is alive with that love. And I believe that each piece of jewelry needs to be honored.
Here’s an excerpt from her Etsy About page:

“Allie et Cie was created because I wanted to find a way to offer unique, vintage, home decor and fashion pieces to shoppers who may not have easy access to flea markets, estates sales, or expensive antique stores. Living in So. California where the skies are usually blue, and the weather warm, flea markets are held year round, and estate sales can be found every weekend.

I love the hunt ~ it’s as simple as that. Digging through an old, forgotten house and garage is a bit like a treasure hunt. And whether I uncover an old piece of ironstone or a well loved toy from the past, or a beautiful wedding veil, it’s like finding a buried treasure.

I have a small studio in my home that is my shop work space. I love this room ~ it is filled with vintage treasures. An old typewriter sits on my vintage desk, I have a 1940’s wedding dress hanging near a window, a pair of pretty blue, vintage heels are peeking out from under a big billowy petticoat, and an old cabinet holds all of my china and ironstone pieces. This is the room where all of my inventory is kept, photographed, researched, and finally listed.”

I’ve long appreciated your eye for vintage and to think it started with the old man next door and a jar of screws and bolts makes your story even more charming. Here’s to many more years of successful treasure hunting for you.
