New year, new fresh to market vintage. As fun as it is to post and list holiday items, it’s nice to not feel the pressure of getting that last snow angel figurine and last indent ornament listed. Interestingly, vintage Christmas is a big seller in January. We can only imagine that things people see or remember things that trigger memories which need to be acted on. China is also a big seller in January. We attribute that to replacing pieces got broken over the holidays or discovering that more place settings are needed for expanded gatherings.
We’re starting the new year out with things that are useful, things that are beautiful and things that are useful AND beautiful. We’ll leave it to you to decide which is which, we’ll just start rolling out the first fresh to market vintage of 2024.

Pair of Vintage Glass Dresser Lamps c 1940s
Offering a matched pair of vintage cottage-style dresser lamps. They feature classic glass bases with original pleated pale green plastic shades that clip onto the light bulb. Unfortunately, the shades have aged over the years which makes this pair a perfect candidate for the update we’ve discussed in “A new shade for a vintage lamp” and “5 DIY lampshade how-to’s”.

1917 Advertising Ruler
One of my favorite things to sell is history. This ruler, which also has a calendar and ink blotter, was made for the Golding Manufacturing Company in Franklin, MA. Their showroom was still in Boston, but their factory had moved to Franklin. They manufactured printing presses and book binding essentials. So much has changed over 107 years. Isn’t it amazing that we have gone from ink, metal and paper to blue tooth keyboards and the cloud and a small printer the size of a typewriter! I wonder what the coating is on this to protect the paper. It must have been the newest technology of the time in the early 1900s.

Pocket Protecters and Handkerchiefs
Pockets are awesome and things that go in pockets are also awesome. Although we use pens less often than we tap on screens, having a nice pocket protector to keep you from inking up your shirt is still a prudent and fashionable choice. As far as promotional advertising give aways, they are miles beyond the useless squeeze balls and other entirely disposable things given away at senior center fairs and trade shows.
And, there is much to be said for disposable tissues for nasal secretions from a hygiene perspective. But from a style perspective, how can you top a monogrammed handkerchief.
