The Holt Howard Company was created by three college friends with start up money from their parents. Their first products were Christmas items made in the USA. Young married couples who did want to decorate the way their parents would wanted fresh, bright and whimsical items and the HH Company was well on its way to provide just that. Imagine Santa flying a jet with a reindeer’s head at the nose cone or driving a jalopy or the captain of the S.S.Noel with a snowman as first mate. An older person may have thought “Why would these kids want this kitsch?!”
Originally kitsch was a word for over-the-top, tasteless things bought or made by the masses with undiscriminating taste. Sounds bad, doesn’t it? Time has made the word kitsch more funny, irreverent and tacky in a good way. There is so much kitsch that abounds and is accepted around the holidays that I can’t help but use the word Kitschmas.
These Holt Howard Kitschmas items lift my spirits. Join me in the celebration and the collection of Holt Howard’s Kitschmas collectibles. I’d like to continue with another post for other Kitschmas items that make me and hopefully giggle.

You did make me smile, Mary Ellen! Thank you.
I’ll bet those three college kids are thrilled their idea was successful enough that people are still collecting their “kitsch” years later.
Definitely makes me smile, and I love that winking Santa.
Those angels are just adorable! Thank you for sharing.
So fun! Puts me in a festive mood :).
I didn’t know that it wasn’t one person!! That’s interesting 🙂 I love HH stuff. Their pixie line is adorable and I have their meowing cat S&P shakers!
I dont know what it is about vintage Christmas but it’s so adorable. I am off to pin some of these~
A lot of the cardboard angels or even tree toppers may be missing their HH label. Look at their heads..are they ceramic> Is the cone marked Japan inside?
Those are great! I actually have the angels, but would love to have every single one of those pictured. 🙂
If you have the Santa decanter and ever want to sell it let me know. I have a lot of that collection. Thanks!
I always keep my eyes peeled for Holt Howard! I’d be thrilled to be able to get another King Santa or any of that line. Thanks all for your comments.
