There’s a viral strawberry pillow from Target. It’s the social media kind of viral and not the infectious kind. We would like to pinch that pillow’s little cheek and tell it how adorable it is, but we are Vintage Unscripted, not Target Unscripted, so we, of course, place anything vintage strawberry on a pillar above this cute little plushie.
As a fruit, strawberries are one of summer’s high points, straight from the field to your mouth or sliced to top a freshly baked biscuit or baked into a buttery cobbler. They also have a pleasing shape, plump with sassy green leaves and a stem. As a design element, they’ve been a favorite forever. We took a wander down vintage strawberry lane to find some sweet treats for summer.
What an adorable pooch with his button eyes, floppy ears, embroidered nose and tongue ready to marinate your hand. The vintage strawberry fabric is perfect. How awesome it would be to have a few yards of that to make a skirt…
Maxi dresses are great in summer to keep off the sun while you keep cool. The lace bib on the bodice makes this vintage strawberry print maxi stand out from the crowd. Imagine this with a pair of Chuck Taylor red high tops.
It is not obligatory to include something by Fire King in every post about the vintage lifestyle, but we think it should be. Red strawberries on a white milk glass mug is a match made in design heaven. Truth be told, we would use it as a vase for garden flowers that don’t have long stems because we take our coffee iced during the summer.
Iced coffee is exactly why we need these tumblers for summer. Frosted glasses make every single summer beverage more refreshing, it’s a scientific fact based on our extensive testing of the theory.
A crochet pattern does not give you immediate gratification. You can’t get no satisfaction until you work it up. But when you are done, you will realize that delaying your bliss was absolutely positively worth it. Look at the colors. And those 3d flowers. Holy crochet hook, but this is a beauty.
We tried, really we did, to limit ourselves to only one vintage strawberry handbag…but we failed spectacularly. These three are the whipped cream on the strawberry shortcake.
And to finish, because we are nothing if not self-serving, one of our own listings, this vintage strawberry maxi. Like too much vintage from the 1970s and before, it’s got a small waist. We considered having a few ribs removed so it would fit, but decided that maybe this was not destined to be ours. That it was meant for someone else.
We hope you’ve enjoyed this strawberry sundae of vintage strawberry delights and we also hope that your summer has as many berries as you can eat without bursting.
