Although time is fluid, calendars are not and they influence our behavior. We go into hurry up mode in December to finish all those things we planned to get done that year. When the calendar flips to the new year, we exhale. We have a whole twelve months to accomplish whatever is on our list. (This is NOT to remind you that you’re already a month behind, relax.) But something else happens in the lives of vintage sellers when the calendar flips–a whole new year of merchandise becomes officially vintage. We have a hard time wrapping our tiny brains around the fact that something from 2002, let alone 2003 or 2004 is vintage, and yet it is, and that’s why the adorable little nodder made it’s way into this weeks fresh to market vintage.
We’re not going to bog you down with a meandering philosophical essay about what the passing of time means to a vintage seller, although we are fully capable of it. We are instead going to welcome 2004 to the vintage oeuvre and think about how much we want to pinch the cheek of that 2002 duck boy while we roll out the rest of this week’s fresh to market vintage.
Set of 4 Acton, MA History Tiles
This year our small town in central Massachusetts is celebrating its 250th anniversary. 25 years ago I worked on the 225th anniversary and I’m happy to take a backseat to younger and more energetic people to take over the celebration. The most thrilling part for me was the ringing of all the bells in town at a given time with a count of 225 each in celebration.
Speaking of celebrations, these tiles of Acton, Massachusetts, are a small collection of important things in the town, which was incorporated in 1735, making it a venerable 289 years old this year! Many of the things in my shop are of a historic nature, because I find it so interesting to learn about the history of our country and share these things with others.

Waterford Millenium Love Toasting Flutes
Starting in 1995, Waterford introduced the Millenium Collection, a series of five toasting flute pairs representing the universal toasts–happiness, love, prosperity, health and peace. I’ve got all five in the shop currently, but these Love flutes with the hearts are my hands down favorites. Hearts can be a bit of a cliche and Waterford has become somewhat ubiquitous, but these ring the right note for me, especially when you clink them together full of non-alcoholic prosecco substitute.
Waterford Millenium Collection Love Flutes, $300.
