We are big supporters of decorating with what you have for the holidays. If Christmas is your holiday, of course you need some essential Christmas decor, but you can also incorporate things you already have. Milk glass and silver plate are year round decor workhorses. You don’t need special vases for Easter or Christmas or the Fourth of July when you have a good stash of either of those. Which made us wonder…the pink Camark vase in this week’s fresh to market vintage is a natural for late winter and spring, but will it Christmas?

Yes. Yes it will. Imagine how pretty a grouping of soft colored mid century vases with Christmas greens, florals and gold or white ornaments would be. And imagine if, and this only happens if you have lived a good and noble life, those greens and florals are vintage fantastic plastic floral greens and florals.
Leave us a comment with your favorite decor workhorse. But wait until you’ve zoomed through this week’s fresh to market vintage.
Blue and White Flower Earrings
Need a small gift for a vintage loving friend? Throughout the 1950s and early 60s, cheap colorful jewelry made in Japan and Hong Kong was everywhere. These earrings have lasted through the years and would make a fun gift. If your pal doesn’t wear earrings, they would look just as cute clipped onto the lapels of a blouse or collar of a T-shirt. They could even be worn on the pocket or belt loop of a pair of jeans. Being creative is a big part of living with vintage items. Finding new uses for older things is part of the fun.

Vintage USA Camark Calla Lily Vase, #597 (c 1950s)
Venturing into the new year with a sneak peek at spring by way of a USA Camark calla lily vase in a soft shade of pink. Calla lilies are primarily ornamental plants, but they have a few other practical uses. For example, the plant can absorb carbon dioxide and other impurities from the surrounding air. This makes it a great natural air purifier for indoor environments. Granted a ceramic vase won’t serve as an air purifier but now you know that filling it with a bouquet that inspired the design will! Another perk to buying vintage!

Handmade 1960s Christmas Apron
Handmade is the best made, and this perfectly stitched Christmas candle apron has but one flaw. It doesn’t appear to have ever been worn. Something this beautiful, made by hand and heart, and it lived all its life in a drawer. It’s unthinkable. You have the power to make this apron flounce and shine like it’s been waiting to do since it was made.
Cross Stitched 1960s Christmas Candle Handmade Apron, $15.

NOS Christmas Card Hangers Kit
One of the highlights of the holiday season used to be receiving Christmas cards. Opening each one was like opening a gift. Did it have a photo? Was it a spectacular card, maybe with glitter? Did it have a letter?
You needed to have some way to keep and display your cards. Sometimes it was a basket. Maybe you taped them to door frames. Or maybe you had a peppermint striped string with tiny plastic clothes pegs that you stretched across a room to hang all those cards. That string was carefully taken down and wrapped up each year, and it lasted for decades.
Imagine having a complete set of pegs and string in the original box, still wrapped in cellophane…but you don’t have to imagine. You can add this incredible set of “Show-Offs” to your vintage holiday decor. It’s as pretty as it can be and as rare as a unicorn.
“Show-Offs” Christmas Card Display/Holder Set, $24.50
