It’s too early for cabin fever, you have to hold out until at least February for that, but then again it’s never too early to consider doing a little redecorating. What’s your style? Do you choose by decade or by what speaks to you? This week’s fresh to market vintage has two decor options, the Otagiri vases and the carved frame. They’re definitely not from the same decade, but they would work nicely together for decor. Both have an earthy, rustic, spare character that complement each other.

The blouse and the pin, however would not play nicely. Put the pin on the blouse and you would never find it again, it would be absolutely eaten by the bold graphic print. That beauty of a pin belongs on something neat and sweet, maybe with a little lace.

1970s Chevron Print Blouse with Bow Tie

Vintage op art geometric prints like this chevron pattern blouse are magnetic and impossible to resist. Add in the bow tie neck and the fact that it’s a larger size (14) and it really does have it all. It’s labeled “Personal – a division of Leslie Fay” which gives it a nice style pedigree as well. I’m dating it to the 1970s based on the label, the pattern, the material and the lack of shoulder pads.

Otagiri Pottery Weed Pots and Vases

I have been a fan of Otagiri or OMC items since college in the early 1970s. I decided to assemble this trio of weed pots based on the maker. It did surprise me that they somewhat are this year’s trending colors of indigo and honeycomb on Etsy. Still in love with this ceramic line made in Japan. Victorian Revival Bar Brooch

This modern rendition of a Victorian Revival bar brooch has an interesting etched starburst cut center cabochon with a small rhinestone center. The brass molded filigree styling and bar pin shape are similar in style to many Victorian brooches. Clearly, this look has not gone out of style as this brooch was most likely made in the 1990s or possibly even newer. It just goes to show, good design never goes out of style.

Vintage Hand-Carved Folk Art Frame

I think this charming folk art frame would be a good candidate for a mixed gallery wall where the point is to make the picture holder as interesting as what it contains. The hand-carved frame is embellished with a stylized leaf in two of the corners and still retains its original soft gold paint.
