Welcome Summer! We’ve missed you! To celebrate, we have been conspiring behind the scenes for weeks what we would each include in this week’s fresh to market vintage so it would be summer perfect.
HA! As if. We never know what anyone else is going to feature as their pick until we add our own item to the post. It’s not a surprise that we were all in tune with the solstice, which happened Friday night at 10:42 pm. Like the cicadas, we know instinctively when summer arrives.
To quote the sign at Interlakes High School in Meredith, NH, “School’s Out, Summer’s In.” So bring on those floral prints and popsicle colors. Free those feet from the tyranny of socks and let them wiggle in the sand. Declare that ice cream IS an entree under most circumstances. Chase the spiderwebs off the Frisbee and the croquet set. Summer is a limited time offer, don’t miss a single day of it.
Twiggy Style Double Hoop Earrings
These bright green double hoop dangling earrings hag from big button clip ons. Set on a gold tone backing they are big and bold and light as a feather. Just the right accessory for summer. Sporting a look straight out of the 1960s Twiggy style, they are right at home with a bold vintage outfit or modern sundress. Channel your inner sixties model with these fun earrings.

Antique Salt-Glazed Stoneware Pitcher
This salt-glazed pitcher is a combination of two of my favorite things – early American stoneware and birds. In this case, lovebirds are the theme, posed on a branch on one side and in flight on the other. According to the Smithsonian’s “14 Fun Facts about Lovebirds” they do indeed mate for life, which makes the thought of commemorating them in stoneware quite appropriate to me.
Stoneware Pitcher, Lovebird Design, $225

Inarco Ceramic Bluebird Flower Container
I have a section in the shop called Kitschy Cute. This planter fits the bill. Mama bluebird has two little ones who are getting ready to either fly or sing. Inarco manufactured there in Japan in at least one other iteration with different colors on the three. It once may have lived in a florist’s shop to be filled with fresh flowers for a baby’s birth or a toddler’s birthday. They are so sweet that I cannot help but smile when I see this charming family.
Vintage Floral Holder, Bluebird Theme, $53.99

1950s Embossed Floral Aluminum Tray
Vintage hammered aluminum is one of my favorite vintage things. This embossed tray was something new for me. I’ve never seen aluminum embossed with an allover pattern like this. It is begging to serve cheese and crackers (but put the cheese on a plate in the middle so the aluminum doesn’t get knife marks). Imagine it filled with fresh summer fruit. Mmmmmmm.
Embossed Floral Aluminum Tray, $24.
