A fresh to market vintage collection for a fresh to everyone year. Day 1. For the first group post of 2022, we’ve all gone for things we love. Pam has her elegant jewelry, Linda has her Victorian glass, Mary Ellen has her beloved Holt Howard and Laurie has gone to the critters. It’s much too early in the year to stray into territories unknown.
So for this first week of the new year, fresh to market vintage that’s also among our favorite things.
Artesania Rinconada Pottery Squirrel
Founded by twin brothers in Uruguay in 1972, distinctive Artesania Rinconda pottery figures are instantly recognizable for their craftsmanship and wit. Glaze is applied sparingly in crisp geometric patterns, which you can’t see properly on the squirrel because it’s on the tail. Each critter is signed on the foot. Over the past 50 years, the line has expanded to include some larger elegant and complex figures, but personally, I like the rustic critters.

Holt Howard George and Martha Washington Salt & Pepper Shakers
Leave it to Holt Howard to create this whimsical and large salt and pepper shaker set in the 1960s or 70s. Perhaps it had to do with the upcoming Bicentennial of the USA. Could it have been the premiere of the musical of 1776 in the late 1960s? The current musical Alexander Hamilton (which we viewed for the first time on our friends’ large screen tv) might just heighten an interest in Presidential collectibles of all stripes!

Coro Choker Necklace
Coro Jewelry company made popular reasonably priced costume jewelry beginning in 1900 and continued until 1979. The company has produced jewelry in multiple countries throughout the world including England, Mexico, and Canada. This necklace was most likely produced in the 1950s and was made to imitate higher quality jewelry components including mother of pearl, amethyst, and seed pearls.

Victorian Hand Painted Tumbler c. 1900s
Offering another Victorian hand-painted glass tumbler from my personal collection. This one is a deep shade of purple, hand-decorated around the glass with an enameled white floral design and peachy abstract accents. If you’re a student of colors, purple is said to be the color of spiritualism, the supernatural and imagination which is quite a lofty description for a sweet little tumbler.
