“For me, the magic of Hawaii comes from the stillness, the sea, the stars.” – Joanne Harris
This is the time of year I seek the sunniest spots in the house, grateful that we don’t live in our old-but-lovely antique house filled with charm and lots of air leaks to let the cold in. I am dreaming of Hawaii and being warm and able to walk or sit on the beach and discover for myself why it entices travelers to return. I’m not able to visit right now, but in my dreams I can take as many flights of fancy I can fit in a day or night. So I went in search of things to remind me what Hawaii offers me until I can get there.
Vintage Hawaiian Tiki Shirt
What I love about this vintage shirt: It doesn’t shout out its design due to the soft almost faded colors. There are many small patterns of Hawaiian abstract designs that are visually stitched into an even bigger pattern. I would wear this over a white tee shirt and knot the hem as my waist. Add some jeans and I would be the happiest beach or outdoor lunch lounger in the Pacific.
VandMBooks has this listed on Etsy for $22.
Owl Hawaiian Pueo Aumakua Earrings
Why these earrings delight me: I am an unapologetic lover of owls. These two are in flight, which I something most of us don’t get to see in real life. Add to their beautiful design the balance of warm koa wood to the cool sterling and a magical orb of moonstone. The Pueo owl is elusive, and we might trek to see one in the wild if even in our dreams,
Monkey pod wood and cast iron pedestal breakfast table
How I would use this table: This piece was crafted from Hawaiian Monkey Pod Wood on a vintage cast iron base. Light reflects from within the wood causing its depth and appearance to change based on where you stand to observe, which reminds me of our New England curly maple wood. I would want to sit at this table with my morning coffee as the sun creeps into the house and enjoy the warmth of the sun and also the warmth of the colors in this wood. I also like that I can sit with my husband at it so we can talk, plan or just dream of Hawaii.
IsakZiegnerDesign created this for etsy which lists for $1050.
