This week’s vintage picks are brought to you by Pam of  Vintage Renude.

1940s French Wrought Iron Fireplace Tool Set

What drew me to this: This Art Deco style set is a bit rustic with its hand-wrought stand. The scrollwork gives it a softer look. The two styles don’t usually work together but in this case, it alludes to the sturdy nature of the material while adding a decorative touch. I can see it set next to the fireplace in an old French Manor House.

Why this piece caught my eye: The unusual four-footed base of this set caused me to take a second look. Most stands hold tools across a flat front. This has a square base that is not only highly decorative but holds a single tool on either side. I would love to place this in front of my fireplace. It may never get used, but it’s highly decorative and I would love to see it there.

Dutch Fire Tools

This Unusual Set Caught my Attention: This highly decorative and unusual set really grabbed my attention. Made in the Netherlands it appears to be made to set atop the mantle with the tools hanging down. Originally designed to hold five tools it now only has three. Considering its age, 18th to 19th Century, I’m surprised it’s still in such good shape.
