Our favorite finds from the internet this past week.

Dot (AtticAndBarnTreasures.com) – Back to school time is upon us! While researching vintage school related tidbits I ran across this timeless song

Laurie (NextStageVintage.com) Project Runway is back for it’s 16th season this Friday. And this time they have models ranging in size from 2 to 22. Designing for real women, long advocated by Tim Gunn, finally becomes a season long affair instead of one episode. Can’t wait!

Linda (SelectiveSalvage.com) –  I shook my head when I read this article “20 things we don’t do anymore because of technology” because I think Kim Komando should have addressed the element of “choice” when she penned it. She’s right that technology has made many of these tasks obsolete  but I continue to do several of the items on the list simply because I like to do them. I choose to do math in my head as a form of mental exercise and I love receiving handwritten notes so always make an effort to send them myself. Check out the list and let me know if you agree with Kim or me.

Mary Ellen (AuntHattiesAtticVintage.com) – When my mother was young she was told she bore a strong resemblance to Hedy Lamarr. Hedy was not only beautiful but was incredibly bright, as evidenced by this article calling her being the mother of Wi-Fi. Never underestimate the intelligence of a woman.

Pam (VintageRenude.com) – While I’m far from a fashion icon myself, I always admire those who choose to follow their heart rather than current style. One of the best examples of this is the amazing Iris Apfel. If you haven’t watched this movie yet, you should. She is an inspiration to many and a true icon. You can find it on Netflix, Amazon, or iTunes.

Tina (GirlPickers.com) –  If you happen to be restoring a victorian home, you can find newly made replicas to match the existing architectural elements in your home.  This is most likely more economical and easier to find.  But if you want the real McCoy, I found this directory of architectural salvage stores
