Our favorite finds from the internet this past week.

Dot ( – We all run across hacks for lots of everyday things but this week I found a food hack for making ice cream! Oh yes I did! Although I haven’t tried it yet I will. Will you?

JayDee ( – I have loved black and white photography since I was a kid with my first camera. I was thrilled to have discovered the photography of Ansel Adams, and have many of his poster-sized prints throughout our home. His photos have always drawn me in, and after stumbling on this article this week, now I know why. Check it out – Images Reveal How Perfectly Ansel Adams’ Photo Align With the Golden Ratio.

Laurie ( – Seeing the trailer for My Cousin Rachel, based on Daphne du Maurier’s novel, reminds me that it’s been a while since I saw one of my favorite movies based on another of her novels and directed by Alfred Hitchcock, Rebecca. If you haven’t seen it, set a reminder for July 12 at 8 pm when it will be shown on TCM. Dame du Maurier was also the author of another of my favorite Hitchcock films, The Birds (July 26 at 3 am–hello DVR!

Linda ( –  End your week on a happy note. Check out the winners of the first annual “Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards

Mary Ellen ( – The craftspeople and artisans who make musical instruments have always been of interest to me because I am neither good at woodworking nor at playing any kind of instrument. This story shows what a younger generation can learn from and also teach an older one. A Father-Daughter Luthier Duo Builds Souls Into Guitars

Pam ( – We hear lots of stories in the news about the refugee crisis.  This global interactive map really puts it in perspective though. As humans living on the same planet, we need to take care of each other.  What can you do to help?

Tina ( –  If you love animals and like to travel check out this article from the Thrillist!  There is a website that matches pet-owning homeowners who want to go on vacation without their beloved pet with top-notch, vetted pet sitters who also want to travel on a dime.  The pet sitters stay for free in exchange for taking care of the pet while the homeowner is out of town.  Perfect arrangement!
