Vintage Picks of the Week – Antiques From The Barn For Summer Living

Vintage Picks Of The Week

It’s time for our series, Vintage Picks of the Week! We scour the internet looking for just the right piece of vintage to add to our decor, and include ideas on how we think these pieces could be used.

The Picks this week are brought to you by Mary Ellen at Aunt Hatties Attic Vintage.

Bright Red Pulley

What I Like About It: I love the strong color and the industrial and agricultural usefulness.

How I Would Use It: I’d use it to hang a very heavy planter filled with red flowers. The color is not only cheerful, it also attracts hummingbirds. Be sure to spend some quiet time within view of this to enjoy the beauty of the flowers and the amazing little birds it will attract!

Laundry Stand and Tubs

What I Like About It: Laundry was such a chore when these were in use. The washstand had to be very strong to hold two tubs of water filled with laundry. These look very old fashioned so they would be perfect to use in a new fangled way!

How I Would Use It: Would your grandparents be scandalized if you set this up at your outdoor party filled with ice, beer and other beverages? Be certain to attach some magnet hooks to hold some churchkeys! These would also be great to chill up some watermelons.

These washtubs on their sturdy stand are ready to party!

Wooden Drying Rack

What I Like About It: I love the design and strength of these racks.

How I Would Use It: I would set this up in a sunny area near the swimming pool, lake or even an outdoor shower to hold wet bathing suits and towels.

Eight long arms to hold damp towels and bathing suits can be folded down when not in use.

  1. I love all your choices Mary Ellen. Thank you for featuring my bright red pulley. I have never seen the drying racks before but I would sure like to find one in the wild. I guarantee it would not be for sale!
