It’s time for our series Vintage Picks of the Week! We scour the internet looking for just the right piece of vintage to add to our decor, and include ideas on how we think these pieces could be used.
The Picks this week are brought to you by Laurie at NextStage Vintage.
Green wicker porch swing
What I Like About It: This antique porch swing from Antique Wicker in Berwick, Maine provides instant character. How many great vintage movie moments took place on a front porch with a swing?
How I Would Use It: It would best be used in a protected area, which I don’t have outdoors. I would use it in our subterranean imagination studio (aka-the basement) where it could be securely hung from the floor joists of the first floor.
Antique Bar Harbor wicker chaise
What I Like About It: From Corner House Antiques in Sheffield, MA this chaise politely but absolutely insists that you unplug, disconnect and relax. It is functional today, but it brings with it the grace of back then. Choosing a cushion fabric would be tough, it would have to be durable, but it would also have to be era appropriate.
How I Would Use It: Although this chaise is a generously sized piece of furniture, I would work it into the family room so I would have a constant reminder that the world doesn’t need me connected 24/7 and it’s not such a bad plan to put down the smart phone.
French wicker laundry basket
What I Like About It: I’m not a fan of modern baskets, but my knees go weak over a great vintage basket. Especially one like this beauty from frenchvintagecharm on Etsy.
How I Would Use It: The danger of adding large baskets to your home is that they invite you to collect things you don’t need to keep like old magazines and newspapers. This basket should be a focal point, not a recycling bin, so I would use it to store nicely folded throws in the living room–it’s a double win, the throws won’t be thrown everywhere and the basket will add vintage charm.
So there you have it! My three favorite vintage picks for the week! Make sure to check back to see what items are on the Pick List next week!
