  1. Skip lunch on Thursday so you have room for the big meal.

  3. Tip to the cook: Be sure you take the neck and giblet bag out of the cavity of the turkey before you stick it in the oven.
  4. Check with your guests ahead of time to make sure you really need all those side dishes like mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and squash. Sometimes less will do.
  5. On the other hand, remember there’s no such thing as too much dessert.
  6. Leave those cell phones at the door and take the time to enjoy the meal and conversation with your friends and family.
  7. Stay away from the couch after eating your meal. You run the risk of falling asleep and missing the rest of the fun.
  8. While it’s true that Thanksgiving is about sharing that doesn’t include your pets. They won’t admit it but table scraps can make them ill.
  9. Think of others in need. Volunteer to serve meals where you can. Invite people who have no other place to your home to share your delicious meal,
  10. Above all, don’t forget what we are celebrating. Remembering what YOU are thankful for will guarantee you have a terrific Thanksgiving.
