Blessing Bags for the Homeless

blessingbagfeaturedimage2

Did you know there are more than 500,000 homeless people in America? That number is probably a conservative number, since many homeless people are hard to track in every-day statistics.

While you are thinking of your Christmas shopping this year, please remember those who have no homes. Put together a “blessing bag” or two (or more) and hand them out to people who are homeless and are living on the streets. Your heart will feel good knowing you’ve helped someone in need, and the recipient of your “blessing bag” is sure to feel the holiday spirit!

If you are uncomfortable handing out “blessing bags” to people you see on the streets, or you live in an area where you do not see the homeless, please get in contact with your local homeless shelters, churches, or other charities to offer your “blessing bags”.

Here are some things you could include in your “blessing bag”…

  1. Bless YOU and your family for your kindness!
Being in the south (think heat!) I add in the cooling neck cloths (the kind you can soak in water). I also add sunscreen for the ladies and for those with dogs I give a plastic bowl for water/food and a voucher for dog food. A LOT of the homeless down here have dogs.

  2. Hello JD!
you can’t imagine How much I am sensitive to the concerns of my fellow citizens! here in France, a Great Man, a well known and popular artist named Coluche claimed to politics on 1985 yet!! something like: “Well, if you fail to do so, We will!…” Coluche did believe his organization called “les restos du Coeur” would stand just for some times…Nope! Les Restos du Coeur are still valid today:31 years later! and more than ever before!
to politics from France, many frenchies still claim: “Shame on you!” …
Merci JD for your Heartfelt message!
